New Creation

Many of us operated under a false sense of who we really was. I had no idea the change that occurred in me the moment I accepted Christ. I did not see myself as God saw me and had no idea His truth was different from my perception of it. Over my mind was a grid system, like a sieve, of inferiority, insecurity, and inadequacy. When I processed information about my world and about myself, it had to filter through that negative grid system first.

I also learned that Satan held that negative grid system in place. I came to a crossroads in my spiritual journey. I could continue believing the lies or I could begin believing the truth.

Jesus said, "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32). I decided to believe the truth. God has so much planned for us to do and to be, but if we are operating with a false sense of who we really are, we may be paralyzed by feelings of guilt and shame.

On Jesus' first day of public ministry, he walked down to the river and was baptized by his cousin John. As Jesus came out of the water, a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased" (Luke 3:22). God says the same thing to you...and to me. "You are my child...whom I love...with you I am well pleased."

Joyce Meyer, in her book Beauty from Ashes wrote, "You cannot get beyond your own opinion of yourself-no matter how many good things God may say about you in His Word.

Regardless of all the wonderful plans God may have for your life, none of them will come to pass without your cooperation.

I have believed the enemy far too long.

But today, I am going to start replacing those lies with God's truth!

I am a child of God -- a new creation -- empowered by the Holy Spirit--

Gateway Church News:

As I am sure all read the notice that the Business Meeting has been moved to April 18. It is very important for all members to get involved. If you understand what is happening, your voice will be heard. I pray that everyone will come and lend a ear.

The Chili Cook off last Friday Night was a great time of fellowship. There was quite the crowd. With several entries for the best chili and a 7 year winning streak on the line one could feel the tension in the air. The creative cooks of Gateway came with their game on.

The Spense was building as the judges made everyone wait until the the concert began to give the results. A lass Eddie Carroll was defeated. Shanda handed him tissues to help fight back the tears. Ms Helen took first place, although it is believed that she may have bribed the judges. It can not be proved , but she did dangle her new keys around a lot.

Kalrice had never made chili before and came in with a respectable second place. Connie trotted in with a third place and Rick drug up the end of the line with the forth place ribbon. Hats off to Joanne and the fellowship team for making the entire evening a success.

There is a phone survey currently happening at Gateway. Several volunteers are currently contacting member and friends of Gateway to ask if we had two services 8.30 am and 10.45 which would best meet your needs. The bible study and children's church would remain the same. With the church growing and the sanitary 80% full on most Sunday's there are some decisions that must be made. Church friends be sure and ask God what is best for you and your family. A nother question you could ask your self is how can I serve the church. What can I do to further the vision of Gateway. Faith is the rock that Jesus built his Father's Chruch on. Gateway has a wonderful opportunity to open doors to the Gospel. Will we get out of the boat and go toward Jesus as he calls?

The concert was a smashing success also. Gateway is blessed beyond measure with talent. Mark Marsh was the host of the evening. The Vine believes he a s gone to Preaching School or maybe he should. The music was fantastic. If you did not get to attend you have another chance, the last Friday of May. You may have a song in your heart waiting to be sung. That reminds me:
A bell is not a bell until it is rung .
A song is not a song until it is sung.
Love is not Love until you give it away
So Minnie Pearl has said.
The choir will be preform 2 songs in the worship service Sunday.
Three songs in the first and second services On Easter Sunday.
There will be nursery for both services. There will be no Sunday School school, but there will be Children's Church at 10.40 am
Bonnie has lost a set of keys, if anyone has any information please call the office 817-57 9-0509.
The Food pantry is always in need of canned meats, canned milk, restroom supplies and most any kind of paper products.
Bring a can and lend a hand.
Okey Dokey Then;
